Public feedback sought at January Kentucky East End Approach Charette/Public Meeting
January 2006 -- A Charette/Public Meeting will be held Tuesday, January 24 from 6:30PM to 8:30PM at Kentucky Country Day School, located at 4100 Springdale Road, off of Hwy. 22.
The purpose of the Charette/Public Meeting is to directly involve the general public and the property owners/stakeholders identified in the Memorandum of Agreement for the Kentucky East End Bridge approach section of the Bridges Project. A multi-disciplinary group of professional planners, historic preservationists, engineers and landscape architects from CTS-GEC and H.W. Lochner will be presenting findings and a summary of the planning Charrette, held November 2-5, 2005. For those of you who were unable to attend the November Charrette, you are invited to provide comments regarding the preparation of a Historic Preservation Plan. For those of you who were able to participate, this will afford you another opportunity to review our progress and comment on the accuracy of what was discussed in November.
Current and historic maps, photographs, drawings, and exhibits will be presented at the January 24 meeting to encourage an understanding of the Bridges Project, and to portray the current thinking in regard to preservation of the significant historic properties, landscapes and community within the project area. Feedback gathered from the Charette/Public Meeting will assist in the production of the:
• Draft Immediate Needs Report – the report is a short-term outcome of the charrette and Public Meeting to develop context sensitive design recommendations prior to finalizing line and grade for the bridge approach.
• Historic Preservation Plan Recommendations – the report is a long-term outcome of all Public Meetings, the charrette and additional research that will contain scenarios and recommendations regarding land use, noise, lighting, protection of community character, interpretation and other relevant subjects.
