Opportunities for DBEs

Search for Lead Contractor

Quick Links

The Kentucky Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE)eNewsletter, published quarterly, is designed to deliver valuable information and insights on the Louisville-Southern Indiana Ohio River Bridges Project (LSIORBP) to its varied team of managers, coordinators, contractors, suppliers and the community at large.

From the KY DBE Program Manager...

2011 has certainly turned out to be an eventful year for the Ohio River Bridges Project. As a result, specific opportunities for Kentucky's Disadvantaged Business Enterprises are being identified. Through the years, the office of the KY DBE Program Manager has been communicating a call to action to certified KY DBEs and potential DBEs to prepare their businesses to compete for the opportunities to come.

The famous line, "If you build it, they will come," applies to DBEs as much as it does to the bridges themselves, in that all businesses must build on their strengths, capabilities and technical knowledge before opportunities will come.

Too many small businesses fail either by waiting too long to do what needs to be done to prepare for a major project or win a contract and not be qualified to perform.

And finally, DBEs should take advantage of every opportunity provided by the Bridges Project for informational meetings, matchmaking events and educational workshops that will put them in a better position to participate.

Sincerely,

Tierra Kavanaugh Turner

KY DBE Program Manager
